 Melba Morris is originally from New York
City, studied ballet at renowned Studio 61 in Carnegie Hall, Jazz
with the legendary Luigi and was dancing professionally at age 17.
Credits include New York City Opera at Lincoln Center, American
Festival Ballet and The King and I. Los Angeles
teaching credits include Hama's Dance Center, and
Eagle Rock Cultural Center. She has owned and operated her own
studio in Echo Park since 1988. Ballet is the primary focus.
Classes
are small, with individual attention to each student. All classes
are taught by Melba Morris, with the exception of occasional guest
teachers.

She has studied the Vaganova and Cecchetti
Methods and attended
numerous continuing education teacher seminars including those with
Henry Danton (Royal Ballet), Alla Sizova (Kirov), Donald Hewitt
(National Ballet of Canada), and David Howard (Royal Ballet). "Miss
Melba's" students have been accepted to LA County High School for
the Arts, as well as summer programs at San Francisco Ballet School,
Bolshoi Academy and the Joffrey Ballet School.
